Bloody Easy is an electronic learning tool providing in depth practical information on Transfusion Medicine. It is designed to enhance the knowledge of physicians, nurses and technologists regarding blood transfusions and the alternatives. The user can return to the program as often as required once the username and password has been assigned. The program is based on the Bloody Easy handbook which contains relevant literature references. The program is recognized by the Royal College of Physicians, the American Medical Association and the Canadian Society of Laboratory Scientists and is CME accredited by the University of Toronto. A certificate can be generated upon completion and payment of a $20 processing fee is applied. Background
More than a million blood products are transfused each year in Ontario with the majority of those blood products being administered by registered nurses (RN’s). Bloody-Easy for Nurses is an electronic learning tool developed by a Transfusion Safety Nurse with input from RN’s, Transfusion Safety Officers and Transfusion Personnel across Ontario. The content reflects current best practices.
National standards (CSA Z902-04) for transfusion require that personnel training procedures include mechanisms to ensure ongoing training of all staff involved in the administration of blood and blood components.
